Membership in the Fellows is an esteemed distinction, limited to one percent of licensed attorneys in each jurisdiction.
Founded in 1955, the Fellows of the American Bar Foundation support the research mission of the American Bar Foundation through annual contributions and sponsor programs of significance to the legal profession. Fellows are nominated by their peers and elected by the Foundation’s Board.

The State Bar of California program in certifying legal specialists is a California Supreme Court method of certifying attorneys as specialist in eleven specialty areas of law: Admiralty & Maritime Law; Appellate Law; Bankruptcy Law; Criminal Law; Estate Planning, Trust & Probate Law; Family Law; Franchise & Distribution Law; Immigration & Nationality Law; Legal Malpractice Law; Taxation Law; and Workers Compensation Law.
Attorneys are certified through a process which includes successful passage of a written examination, completion of specific tasks in the specialty area, attendance at a prescribed number of approved education programs, and peer review.
Ed Allan Lindain Received the 2024 President Biden Lifetime Achievement Award
On Oct. 27, 2024, Ed Allan Lindain, and other notable Filipino-American trailblazers received the President Biden Lifetime Achievement Award at the 14th Annual TOFA (The Outstanding Filipino Awards) in Honolulu, Hawaii.
The lifetime achievement awards honor and recognize outstanding commitment and service to communities in the United States.
In a letter addressed to the awardees, President Biden sent his heartfelt greetings to all the awardees and praised them for being part of a long line of ordinary Americans doing extraordinary things - pushing our country ever forward.
